Raised in a family connected to film and television in Venezuela (Creativos Audiovisuales, Cinemateriales), he began his career as a young editor at the channel Bravo (canal 57) in 1996, while studying Social Communication at Andrés Bello Catholic University (1998) in Caracas. From 1999 to 2003, his television career began to flourish (sports program on RCTV, On-Air Promos at Sony Entertainment Television). He was hired by Cisneros Television Group (CTG) for the launch of an educational channel for all of Latin America (Canal Clase), which allowed him to hone his post-production skills and, in turn, move to Miami, Florida. That project with CTG won several Promax/BDA awards while Otto participated as Creative Producer. Shortly after, a post-production studio in Los Angeles (Makiné Studios) offered him the position of Editor for advertising campaigns. Since 2004, he has evolved into a versatile editor with extensive experience in various formats: commercials, music videos, short films, etc. He earned the trust of numerous advertising agencies to contribute his editorial vision to campaigns for North American brands such as Ford, Denny’s, H&R Block, KIA, Toyota, Bimbo, Blue Cross of California, McDonald’s, T-mobile, among others. Promax/BDA awarded Makiné Studios numerous awards for campaigns in which Otto was involved. He also received Telly Awards for the Time Warner Cable (now Spectrum) campaign and has been recognized in various advertising agency magazines in the US Hispanic market. Otto also sought to get involved in filmmaking: he directed a short film (Rosas de Color Rosa) which was selected for the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) in 2007. In 2010, he participated in his first feature film as editor, “La Hora Cero,” which won the Best Editing award at the 2010 Mérida Film Festival in Venezuela and Public Choice in LALIFF (USA) in 2011. Since then, he has participated in various film projects such as “Ready To Talk” (2011), “Translucent” (2014), “The Astronaut” (2017), “Hulu: Bite Size Halloween” (2021), and “The Whistler” (2025).
