Bio

Otto was raised in Venezuela in a family connected to the film and television industry (Creativos Audiovisuales, Cinemateriales). He started his career as a young editor at Bravo Channel 57 in 1996, while studying to become a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at the Catholic University Andrés Bello (1998) in Caracas. From 1999 to 2003, through his work at various television channels (RCTV, SONY, Cisneros Television Group (CTG) in Miami, etc.) he honed his skills in post-production. CTG projects won several Promax/BDA awards while Otto was involved as a Producer-Creative (specifically with Canal Clase).

Today Otto is a versatile editor with extensive experience in various formats: commercials, music videos, short films, feature films, etc. From 2004 to 2020, Otto worked at Makiné Studios, a Post-production house located in Marina del Rey, CA. He won the confidence of many clients and was responsible for a number of TV advertising campaigns. Some brands include Denny’s, H&R Block, KIA, Toyota, Bimbo, Blue Cross of California, Qwest Communications, McDonald’s, Jeep, among others. Promax/BDA garnered Otto with numerous awards in 2004 for his work with MAkinÉ on Sí TV’s On-Air Image Campaign. He also won a Telly Award for a Time Warner Cable Campaign he edited. With his first feature film, “The Zero Hour”, Otto gained recognition for Best Editing at the 2010 Merida Film Festival in Venezuela.

In Los Angeles, he connected with many directors for different film projects. He collaborated with Fina Torres for “Liz in September” (2014). Otto edited “Ready to Talk”(2011) – winner of the Best Short Film award at the 2012 Palencia International film Festival-Spain. “Translucent” (2016) feature film is part of the Prime Video movie offer for the USA and Europe. Likewise, the short film “El Astronauta” (2016) was presented by HBO Latino for the whole Latin America region. He also edited the Sci-Fi short film “Sealed” (2017) by Katherin Hussein. Otto also collaborated with director Juan Avella in the suspense/horror genre where he edited the films “Child for Child” (2017), “Her Body” (2018) and “Freebirth” (2021), the latter part of the special Halloween programming of the Hulu service.
